ASTGHIK & NANE

Cello and Piano

Duration: 6'

I.  Astghik

II. Nane

Astghik and Nane (2016) is a duet for cello and piano composed in two movements. This composition was inspired by Armenian mythology and influenced by Armenian folk music. In the last few years, while searching for my musical voice, I’ve been intrigued more and more to the culture of my ancestors.  My inspirations for the first movement is Astghik, the Armenian goddess of love, maidenly beauty and water.  A feminine, delicate and ornamented melody played by the violoncello accompanied by arpeggiated piano figures is how I envisioned Astghik surrounded by the water waves and springs. In the second movement you will hear a fearless and restless melody in combination with syncopated rhythm drawing the image of Nane, Armenian mother goddess, a goddess of war and wisdom.

DALI MINIATURES

String quartet

Duration: 15'

I.   Galatea of the Spheres

II.  The Disintegration of the Persistence of Memory

III. The Meditative Rose

IV.  Caravan (by Aram Vardazaryan)

V.   The Face of War

Dali Miniatures (2017) is written for a string quartet composed in five short movements. It is my musical interpretation of four masterpieces by the great Spanish artist, Salvador Dali, and a digital artwork by Aram Vardazaryan, based on images of Dali's famous elephants. Every piece represents a different idea and character based on the artwork and artist's description. You will hear my musical idea of the disintegration of the atom, the melting cheese of space and time, the natural Om symbol, the caravan of long legged-elephants, and the face of war, filled with infinite death.

SUITE 24

Wind ensamble (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon)

Duration: 5'

I. Morning

II. Afternoon

III. Evening

IV. Night

Suite 24 (2016) is written for a wind quartet and composed in four short movements. This composition is inspired by the concept of time which physicists define as the progression of events. Every day is made up of 24 hours and four parts: Morning, Afternoon, Evening and Night. Every part of the day has a different mood as well as its own unique flow. In this suite I am sharing with you how I see and feel the flow of one of my days. In these four movements you will hear the world awaking as the sun rises, a restless afternoon full of movement, a calm and decompressing evening followed by a peaceful night.
